 Safety Matters Certified Training is an authorized American Heart Association (AHA) Training Site. Our Instructors teach all courses in accordance with the AHA guidelines and curriculum. Upon completion of your class, you will receive an AHA certification Card.

You are required to have the 2020 textbook for the Basic Life Suipport American Heart Association course. If you already own one or have access to one before, during, and after the class, you do not need to purchase one here.

Refund Policy For CLASSROOM Classes: These are the classes that are schedule every week for open enrollment.

CPR/AED & BLS Courses -A processing fee of $25.00 will be retained for cancellations received more than 2 business days prior to course date. No refund for no shows or cancellations less than 2 business days prior to course date. A $ 25.000. administrative fee will be charged for rescheduling to another course date less than 2 business days prior to the scheduled course

Credit card and PayPal refunds Effective October 1, 2019

In line with industry practice, Credit card and Pay Pal processing fees will be subtracted from the refund amount as this are not reversed by the processor for fees from the original transaction when a refund is issued.

Full refund if the course is canceled* by Safety Matters Certified Training for reason other than listed here. *Class Cancellation caused by a Natural or Man made disasters, emergencies or Public Safety Power Shutoffs are subject to rescheduling accomdations only.*

Classes are scheduled for 4 hours per the American Heart Association;  However class times usually are completed in 3 .5 hours.

The American Heart Association requires students to have the 2020 textbook for this course. Current BLS textbook IS NOT INCLUDED in the cost.  If you already own or borrow the 2020 Textbook for this class, you must bring it to the class.  You may purchase the text in a printed format for $21.75 or the eBook for $17.00. Participants must purchase the book prior to the class or at the door for $21.75 . eBooks are NOT sold at the class .If you purchase the eBook, you must bring it to the class on a table/Computer or a phone and show it to the Instructor. This course is taught under the new 2020 Guidelines. Previous Guideline textbooks are not acceptable.

Online Basic First Aid  You Must complete the Online portion of the first Aid course BEFORE you come to the CPR classroom dateand arraive 20 mins before the start of class time.
Online courses are the same courses as the onsite trainings- the difference is the class room portion is completed online rather than in the classroom and students usually complete this portion in less time than the classroom lecture course. Online/training combines the convenience of online training with a shortened face to face session. The face to face session covers a practice time & skill evaluation.  Here's how it works!

Through case-based scenarios, interactive activities and videos, this course teaches the concepts of both single-rescuer and team basic life support.

Once students pass the included exam at the end of the online portion, they participate in a classroom-based training session featuring discussion, skills practice, and testing. Successful completion of both the online and classroom portions, including skills practice and testing with a certified American Heart Association BLS Instructor, qualifies students for a BLS provider course card. This course isonly for Part 2 & Part 3 and is for healthcare providers seeking an initial or renewal BLS for Healthcare Providers Course Completion Card (Part 1 sold separately).

Students are allowed up to 60 days after the completion of the online part of the course to complete the skills Session. We also have regularly scheudled times and dates. You must have the certificate of online completion with you for collection at the skill session. An alternative to classroom-based ACLS training, HeartCodeTM ACLS is a self-paced, comprehensive eLearning course. The course includes interactive patient cases that test students’ ability to apply the ACLS algorithms to effect treatment. The full course combines the web-based lessons with advanced CPR skills training.
For the healthcare team, the course offers:
• standardized ACLS instruction
• improved competency
• cost savings through less time away from the job

Call for your skill tesing date  Your date will be confirmed.  We need at least a few business days to set up an appointment for you to be ablet o confirm a time and date with our ACLS instructor. Skill testing is done 1 or 2 times per month and usually on a Monday or a Tuesday.

This Class Can NOT be done on an IPad. Course codes expire if not completed and skill testing done within 6 months of purchase.

Please Note: Students are allowed up to 60 days after the completion of the online part of the course to complete the skills session. Don't finish the final online session until you have secured a testing date.

A skills session is the hands-on portion of an AHA eLearning course and includes Parts 2 and 3 — skills practice and testing. It is conducted in-person after a student completes Part 1 online. Please print your completion certificate from the online course and bring that with you to the skills test.

The ACLS skills session is conducted by AHA ACLS Instructor. After successfull completion of the skills test, the student will be issued an ACLS Provider card.

HeartCode® PALS is an online comprehensive eLearning program that uses eSimulation technology to allow students to assess and treat patients in virtual healthcare settings. In this environment, students apply their knowledge to real-time decision-making and skills development.

To enter the course, students must complete the PALS Precourse Self-Assessment. Students are then presented with 12 In-hospital patient cases and a team dynamics lesson. Cases may be repeated as many times as necessary to pass. Upon successful completion of all the patient cases, students must pass the multiple-choice exam with a minimum score of 84%.

Students who successfully complete the online portion of the course receive a certificate granting them access to a PALS Hands-on Session with an AHA PALS Instructor. Students must successfully complete both the online portion and the hands-on session to receive a PALS Provider course completion card (print or eCard).

Part 3. Satisfactorily perform the physical skill components at the evaluation session. Complete & pass a written exam. Receive certification that is valid for 2 years.

You will be receiving an email with a link to get into the Basic First Aid class. Please bookmark this link, as you can return to it often. You can begin and re-start the online class at your convenience. After each lesson, there is a quiz. If you have not worked on the class for a few days, a reminder email will be sent to keep you on track. You need to have Adobe flash 8.0 or newer to operate the blended class and videos.

You MUST Print off and bring the First Aid Completion certificate to your skill session or you will not be issued a certification card.

Your Skill session will be held immediately before the classroom CPR/AED course.

Heartsaver First Aid Online is a self-directed course that uses interactive lessons and videos to teach you comprehensive first aid knowledge. This program is for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs an AHA course completion card

Successful completion of the full Heartsaver First Aid Course includes three (3) parts:

Part 1, Heartsaver First Aid online course

Part 2, a hands-on skills practice session with an authorized AHA Heartsaver Instructor or Heartsaver Skills Evaluator™ within 60 days

Part 3, a hands-on skills test with an authorized AHA Heartsaver Instructor or Heartsaver Skills Evaluator™ within 60 days

After you successfully complete all 3 parts, you will receive an AHA Heartsaver First Aid course completion card, valid for two years. Skills sessions (Parts 2-3) are sold separately and must be completed within 60 days of completing the online Part 1.


 Students are allowed up to 60 days after the completion of the online part of the course to complete the skill session. If you do not have your skill session and testing done within 60 days of the date that you completed the online course, you will NOT be eligible to enter into a skill session. You will need to purchase a new key code and do the course again.

 

 

This course does NOT cover Adult CPR- it only covers Infant and Child CPR/AED

Our INCH (Infant & Child) class offers instruction in the techniques for both infant and child cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).  This class uses the American Heart Association's Family & Friends guidelines and is recommended for new parents, grandparents and other caregivers of newborns through school-aged children who do not require certification for employment. Participants will receive a course participation card and there is no exam. This is an awareness training and does NOT result in a certification.

California Governor Jerry Brown signed the Home Care Services Consumer Protection Act of 2013 (AB 1217) into law on October 13, 2013. This Act places stricter requirements on home care services in California.

What is included in the Act?

This legislation requires agencies to:

  • List aides in an online registry
  • Conduct background checks on workers
  • Provide 5 (five) hours of training for new hires; and
  • Obtain a license from the state certifying their compliance with basic standards.
  • Fingerprint home care aides

ASHI’s Bloodborne Pathogens program includes information that will help students understand what bloodborne pathogens are and how risks of exposure can be reduced for themselves and others. The program meets Federal OSHA requirements and satisfies the training requirements of the U.S. Department of Labor, OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard.

Bloodborne Pathogen training is intended for any employee who has reasonable anticipations of contact with blood or other potentially infectious materials as a result of performing designated job duties, including but not limited to: healthcare workers, public safety personnel, housekeeping, custodial workers, educational and correctional workers and designated workplace responders. Certification is valid for 1 year.

Online CPR/AED & First Aid  Work combined with Skill Testing Session Instruction:

Online/Blended courses are the same courses as the onsite trainings- the difference is the class room portion is completed online rather than in the classroom and students usually complete this portion in less time than the classroom lecture course. Online/Blended training combines the convenience of online training with a shortened face to face session. The face to face session covers a review, practice time, skill evaluation and written test and it takes less time! Here's how it works!

 

Part 1.  Each student independently completes the course lecture portion, online, at their convenience, at their pace, before the onsite skill/test date.

Part 2.  Your  Face to Face skill practice & test session would be scheduled at a time that is set up your Social worker.

Part 3.  Students satisfactorily perform the physical skill components at the test session.

You will receive an email from the HEALTH & SAFTEY INSTUTE with a subject line that says "You have been enrolled in an online training class!"   Please check your spam/junk/promotion folders.  I usually push the course out on the same business day that it is ordered – please email justin@cprtrainingsb.com.  You can begin and re-start the online class at your convenience. After each lesson, there is a quiz. If you have not worked on the class for a few days, a reminder email will be sent to keep you on track.

No refund for no shows or cancellations less than 2 business days prior to course date.
